PENDLETON Eastern Oregon Center for Independent Living (EOCIL) announced that the agency received an award from the Meyer Memorial Trust to purchase a new fuel-efficient vehicle.

The vehicle will enhance the delivery of EOCILs independent living services to people with disabilities and seniors.

EOCIL operates in 13 counties in Central and Eastern Oregon, including Grant County. Its offices are located in Ontario, Pendleton, and The Dalles.

The new vehicle will make it possible for EOCILs independent living specialists to travel within EOCILs service area to provide individualized services that empower individuals to live and participate as independently as possible in their communities, said Shirley Woolam, one of the specialists.

In the past, the organization used vehicles bought at federal or state auctions that tended to have high mileage costs.

For more information about EOCIL and services, contact Woolam at 541-889-3119.
