DAYVILLE — The Dayville School District has decided to close school for the remainder of the week as a result of the Rail Ridge Fire’s threat to the community the school said in a SchoolMessenger notification to the community on Monday, Sept. 9.

“For now, as a district, we have made the decision to make the health and safety of our entire community of families, our students and staff the highest priority,” the message said.

The district stressed in the message that they’d not made the decision lightly or in a hasty manner and have operated with the utmost care and sensitivity in the wake of the megafire.

The district said they hope to resume normal school operations on Sept. 16. Should fire conditions not improve and the Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation alert remain in place for the town as the 16th nears, the school will communicate timely and have a plan for continuing service and education to the students and families in Dayville.
