SEATTLE – Seattle Seahawk Stadium was the site for the Sectional Championship round of the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition Sunday, Nov. 16.

Forty participants from all over the Pacific Northwest, including Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon, were entered in the competition.-

Each participant was the winner of local competition and then advanced to the regional competition. To qualify for the championship round of the sectionals, each competitor had to finish in the top five of their respective regionals.-

Justin Larson of Dayville did just that, earning the trip to Seattle and competing in the boys 8- to 9-year-old division.-

Because of wind and rain the competition was held in the Seahawks practice facility in Kirkland, Wash., but each participant performed an exhibition in the passing portion of the contest during halftime of the Seattle Seahawks game against the Detroit Lions.

While the cameras focused on Larson, his hometown was announced over the public-address system and his performance shown on the big screen. He performed well enough to place fourth and bring home a nice plaque for his efforts along with a Seahawks’ jersey and pants.

Though it wasn’t his best performance, he said he was elated at having the opportunity to be there and he is making plans to compete again next year.—

Larson said he set some goals for the trip to Seattle which included having ice cream, going to the top of the Space Needle and making Dayville proud.-

He also got to see his first NFL game ever with his family.
