John Day Seniors: Thanks to all who help

Mavis Traylor’s grandson, Jason Hampton joined her for lunch at the John Day Senior Center, Monday, Nov. 29. Jason lives in Florida and has enjoyed the snow, taking many pictures.

Oxtail soup and sandwiches were enjoyed, and served by members of the First Christian Church.

Alma Joslin led the flag salute and Pastor Cheadle asked the blessing. John Day Pharmacy and Len’s Drug donated certificates and they were won by Dena Griffin and Mavis Traylor.

Thursday, Dec. 2, everyone’s favorite, Salisbury steak was served.

Arlene Oliver led the flag salute. Pastor Cheadle asked the blessing. Dreamers Lodge furnished the entree and members of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church served the meal.

Flu shots will be available Dec. 2 and 3 for those with health problems or over 65 years of age. Shots will be given at the health department.

Free meal was awarded to Joe Whitehead and Deda Porter received the certificate from Chester’s Thriftway. Monday, Dec. 6, turkey casserole will be served and Dec. 9 chicken will be the entree.

Wednesday night bingo players were Bob Larkin and Mary Brown. Evelyn Boyd won $30 or the $300 blackout. Judy Thomas and Kahle Clark each won $15.

Thank you to all who in any way donate to the center. Today especially Mike and Marty McLarran of Dreamers Lodge.
