CANYON CITY — Glen William Wadley, 59, of Mt. Vernon, has been charged with 15 counts related to child sexual abuse, including three counts each of first-degree rape, sodomy and unlawful sexual penetration.

The alleged crimes are said to have taken place between Oct. 22, 2012, and Oct. 22, 2016, and involve a single victim, a female minor who was known to Wadley, according to court documents.

An arraignment for Wadley was held at Grant County Circuit Count on Thursday, June 20. Bail was set at $500,000 and Wadley was ordered to have no contact with the victim or minors and was prohibited from using intoxicants.

Wadley’s next scheduled court appearance is a hearing on Thursday, June 27, when an indictment is expected to be filed.

Twelve of the counts against Wadley are Measure 11 offenses, and nine of those carry a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years and four months in the event of conviction.

Some of the counts against Wadley specify that the alleged victim was under the age of 12 at the time of the offenses. A conviction on those counts could trigger an enhanced sentence of 25 years in prison under an Oregon statute known as Jessica’s Law.

Wadley’s attorney declined to comment on his behalf.
