REDMOND – Coy Cowart of Lebanon was elected president of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association during its annual convention and trade show at Eagle Crest Resort, Nov. 6-9. Cowart replaces outgoing president Bob Skinner of Jordan Valley.
“I am honored that our members would instill their trust in me,” said Cowart. “I know I have an obligation to adhere to the strong traditions of our association, and I am going to do my best to live up to them.”
Cowart said his first course of business would be to personally meet with many of the producer and associate members and find out how the Association can further serve them. “As a member-driven organization, my primary responsibility is to advance the needs of the membership,” said Cowart.
“I know I am leaving the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association in good hands,” said Skinner. “President Cowart’s industry experience and commitment to serving the producer is just what we need.”
In addition to Cowart’s election, Sharon Livingston of Long Creek was elected president-elect and Bill Moore of Ontario was elected treasurer.
More than 300 producer members, associate members, and friends of the industry attended the annual convention.
The Oregon Cattlemen’s Association is a grassroots organization that has worked for more than 80 years to advance the economic, political, and social interests of the Oregon cattle industry.
