Whatever you might need for your home, you can be certain that Nydam’s Ace Hardware at 652 West Main Street in John Day has it or can acquire it in an expeditious manner for you. A second-generation business, Nydam’s Ace Hardware works hard every day to meet their customer’s needs.

Darren and Karri carry on a family tradition started by Karri’s parents, John and Janis Nydam, who purchased the store in 1977 when it was a Coast to Coast Hardware store. They moved from the original location when Coast to Coast dissolved in 1995 to their current location on Main Street and became affiliated with Ace Hardware. Darren and Karri started working there in 1998 and John and Janis retired in 2000, turning over the store to Karri and Darren, who are hoping their sons, Riley and Kyle, will carry on the family hardware tradition.

Karri and Darren’s mission for Nydam’s Ace Hardware is to simply be there for the community. What they carry depends on what their customers need and they go the extra mile to fulfill their mission.

You name it and Nydam’s Ace Hardware either has it in stock or can order it from the Ace Hardware website and have it shipped with their scheduled weekly deliveries from suppliers working with the Ace Hardware cooperative network. They carry everything from housewares and gifts to sporting goods, camping supplies, and guns, as well as licenses for fishing and hunting. Nydam’s Ace Hardware can outfit your kitchen with small appliances such as toaster ovens and cannisters, utensils, and towels. They also carry everything to make your home shine, including power tools, hand tools, plumbing supplies, lawn care supplies, air conditioners and heaters. In the spring, customers can look forward to starting their gardens with the offerings in the greenhouse, including plants, lawn mowers, rototillers and small garden tools.

Another perk offered by Nydam’s Hardware is participation in the Ace Rewards program, where regular customers signing up can receive coupons regularly for discounts, special birthday coupons, and sales. There is a big sale for Ace Rewards card holders coming up this Thanksgiving week and Nydam’s Ace Hardware has have everything to prepare the big Thanksgiving feast, from roasting pans and serving dishes to turkey roasters.

Karri and Darren’s goals looking forward center on keeping their eyes on the mission of making sure everyone in the community has everything they need in a helpful and friendly setting—after all “Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks.”
