Chicken-almond casserole with salad and cookies was served to 25 Monument seniors on Dec 3.
A Christmas tree and the entire hall had been beautifully decorated for the holidays by Jewel Cote and Dotty Jensen.
Guests included Georgeanne Williams of John Day, Carolyn Williams of Rio Vista, Calif. and Ruth Shuck of Long Creek, Monument’s friendly postmaster. We were also glad to welcome back Roger Kellogg, who has been away for a while.
President Mardy Jensen announced that the community/senior bus is back in use, and will resume it’s regularly scheduled trips to the John Day senior center for dinner on the second Thursday of each month. This month’s date is Dec. 12.
About a dozen seniors rode the bus to Mitchell for the Columbia Power Co-op’s annual meeting on Dec. 7.
The street paving project is proceeding well; parking lot paving began Dec. 9, but according to promise, there was no obstacle to parking in the senior lot on Dec. 10.
Winners of the drawings were: Ellen Kellogg, free meal; Chet Mael, John Day Hardware; Jack Cavender, Mills Building Supply; Thelma Williams, Len’s Drug; Ruth Peterson, John Day Pharmacy; and Mardy Jensen, Chester’s Thriftway.
