Mike and Tirza Shaffer of Coupeville, Wash., announce the birth of their daughter, Kaila Ann Shaffer, Sept. 11, in Virginia Beach, Va. She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. She joins older sister, Alana.

Grandparents are Bob and Kay CowanThompson, and Gaylene Shaffer of John Day. Great-grandparents are Louise Cox and Carol Newman, both of Albany, Rueben Weickum of John Day, and Marie Shaffer of Mt. Vernon.
