CANYON CITY — Glen Wadley, 59, of Mt. Vernon, was arraigned on a grand jury indictment on Thursday, June 27, in Grant County Circuit Court.

Wadley now faces 17 counts, most of them alleging sex crimes against a child, including multiple counts of first-degree rape, sodomy and unlawful sexual penetration.

The indictment added two misdemeanor counts of menacing constituting domestic violence to the list of 15 original charges that were filed at his original arraignment hearing on June 20.

The alleged crimes are believed to have taken place between Oct. 22, 2012, and Oct. 22, 2016, according to court documents, and involve a single victim, a female minor who was known to Wadley.

Twelve of the counts against Wadley are Measure 11 offenses, and nine of those carry a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years and four months in the event of conviction.

Some of the counts against Wadley specify that the alleged victim was under the age of 12 at the time of the offenses. A conviction on those counts could trigger an enhanced sentence of 25 years in prison under an Oregon statute known as Jessica’s Law.

Wadley is being held at the Grant County Jail, with bail set at $500,000.

A plea hearing in the case is set for July 15.

Defense attorney Matthew Baumann could not immediately be reached for comment.
