Get ready for a splashing good time – Gleason Pool in John Day opens Monday June 15.

John Day’s Gleason Pool opens Monday, June 11.

Recreational swimmers can dive in from 1-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Pool passes for those who live within the John Day-Canyon City Parks and Recreation District cost $80 for an individual or $130 for a family.

For those out of district, the cost is $95 for individuals and $160 for families.

Daily recreational swim rates are $3 within the district, or $4 for those outside the district.

An open lap swim is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-1 p.m. with limited lanes.

The adult lap swim time for 16 and older is 5-6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 5-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Open swim nights are 6:30-8 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays, and family night swim is at the same time on Wednesdays.

Water aerobics is from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The John Day swim team meets for practice from 6- 10 a.m. Mondays through Fridays, and swim lessons are held between the hours of 10-11 a.m.

Swim lessons begin at the pool on June 18, and children are required to be at least 43 inches tall. The cost is $40 in district or $45 out of district for the two-week lessons. Private lessons are also available.
