Evacuation notices lifted for Battle Mountain Complex in Grant County

CANYON CITY — All evacuation advisories related to the Battle Mountain Complex in Grant County have been removed, and advisories for the Falls Fire continue to be reduced.
The announcement was made Friday, Aug. 16, by the Grant County Emergency Management Office.
While the Battle Mountain Complex continues to smolder across 183,000 acres in Grant, Umatilla and Morrow counties, it is 94% contained and is no longer considered an imminent threat to any Grant County communities.
On the southern end of the county, the 152,000-acre Falls Fire is 89% contained, and evacuation advisories in the vicinity are once again coming down.
As of Friday, the Level 2 “Be Set” zones east of Highway 395 from the Harney County line north to west of and adjacent to Highway 395, to include the town of Seneca, have been downgraded to a Level 1 “Be Ready” status, emergency managers said.
