LONG CREEK — The Malheur National Forest has reduced the area closure for the Courtrock Fire on the Blue Mountain Ranger District, forest officials announced on Monday, Aug. 19.

A portion of the area around the fire will remain in a closure to protect public health and safety, officials said. The new Forest Order rescinds and replaces the previous Courtrock Fire Area Closure Order 06-04-01-24-18.

The area that remains closed starts at the junction of Grant County Road 88 and Forest Service Road 3955-741, then follows Forest Service Road 3955-741 to the junction of Forest Road 3955. From there it follows Forest Road 3955 until it ends at the forest boundary.

All roads, trails, and camping locations within the fire closure area remain off-limits to the public.

A detailed map of the closure is available on the Malheur National Forest website and in forest offices.
