CANYON CITY — Several evacuation advisories around Grant County and an evacuation shelter in John Day is being shut down, the Grant County Emergency Management Office announced on Sunday, Aug. 4.

In the vicinity of the Battle Mountain Complex in the northern part of the county, a Level 2 “Be Set” evacuation zone, east of Highway 19, south of Highway 402 and Rudio Road, and west of the Courtrock Fire has been downgraded to a Level 1, “Be Ready.”

All Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation zones east of Highway 395 and North of Highway 26 have been removed.

In the vicinity of the Falls Fire, a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation zone east of Antelope Creek, south of Logan Valley Lane and north of Forest Service Road 17 in Grant County has been downgraded to a Level 2 “Be Set.”

The American Red Cross shelter at Grant Union High School in John Day will close after noon on Sunday.

A Level 2 threat indicates that there is substantial danger nearby. You and your family should be ready to leave at any moment. Keep monitoring for news updates and emergency services announcements. Under Level 2 threat conditions, the emergency is less predictable.
